Some recent listener feedback

Hello Bruce.
Thank you for the pedagogical way of showing how to use the Adobe Audition 3 and making me so interested.
All the best
Kasper

Actually, Adobe and Lynda are the ones that should be thanking you.
I purchased both Audition and a subscription to Lynda based solely on what I'm hearing on your excellent programs.
And I hate the word podcasts.
It lumps you in with all the a**holes that think they are content producers because they have a microphone and an internet connection (and you are obviously a professional dedicated to his craft, and know how to produce content).
They just don't know what they don't know!

I'm a long time listener to your Building the Pod and Sine Language shows, and would like to thank you for producing such informative and interesting podcasts.
I'm a media production student at the University of Lincoln in the UK and your Audition guides really helped me during the radio production aspect of my course.

I've only recently decided to get back into music production after a prolonged absence.
So, when it came to choosing a DAW, it came down to a choice between FL Studio and Audition.
Dollar wise, quite similar although FL Studio does offer more in the way of virtual instruments for this price range.
But I chose Audition for two clear reasons.
1. I really like the look and feel. The layout is just easy on the eye and made sense to me very quickly.
2. I knew I had a great teacher. I discovered Building the Pod through the Adobe web site and soon found Sine Language.
I have to thank you sincerely for your weekly tuition.
It has turned a somewhat severe learning curve into managable bite size pieces.
I simply can't overstate how thankful I am of your weekly podcasts.
Bye for now.

Oh thank you god a podcast showing you how to properly make podcasts. Thank you Bruce Williams!

Bruce is “off the air” for a while.

Hi guys,
Sorry to say but I’m not going to be able to produce any new podcasts for about the next 7 weeks.
By the time you read this, it will (almost) be Monday here in Sydney and I’m starting (at least) a 2 week stint filling in as Commercial Producer at MIX106.5.
There is a high probability that that will be extended to 3 weeks, which is going to take me right through until the weekend I fly out to California.
And every spare minute I have between now and then is going to be spent on research for my Lynda duties.
And of course, I was always going to be out of the podcasting arena for those 3 weeks in the U.S. anyway.
So, it looks like I won’t be able to produce any shows until the first week of May.
Naturally, I will blog as often as I can to keep you informed of what I’m up to, and will certainly post pics both here and on Flickr of whatever I shoot in the States.
Sorry for the absence.

A video for you

One of my contacts on Facebook just posted this clip.
I watched it, and was struck by how much it echoes exactly the things that our fearless leader has been telling us all these months.
I’m not familiar with the guy speaking, but he is obviously a fairly experienced photographer as well.

Building the pod – episode 119

Filed under: !Podcasts,Building the Pod,Effects,Facebook,NAB,Plugins,Sidekick,VST,trade show — Bruce Williams @ 10:02

This week,
Jim Perry asked about monitor resolution,
and Valente Espinosa asked about sidechain compression (even if he didn’t realise that that was what he was asking about!).
And it just so happens that there’s a free VST plugin which does sidechain compression!
It’s called Sidekick.
Also, Bruce is heading back to the States to visit NAB (can’t wait for that!),
he’s finally succumbed to Facebook,
and he needs your help with some “stuff”.

Audition v3 Graphic Phase Shifter

Filed under: Building the Pod,Effects — Bruce Williams @ 23:09

Hi all,
Just noticed this on the beta tester’s forum and felt I ought to mention it straight away.
It seems that Audition v3 shipped without the Graphic Phase Shifter tool.
This was apparently quite unintentional on Adobe’s part.
So, they’ve posted the dll (in a zip file) on the Adobe servers for you to download and install.
Installation is quite simple.
Just extract the zip file, and move (or copy) the dll to the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Audition 3.0\Plug-ins\ folder.
Then, next time you run Audition v3, refresh your effects list and you’ll be good to go.
